With all the reality TV these days, why not a show that helps people with infertility treatments? We have all seen "The Baby Story," why not Fertility and Nothing But the Truth? A show that follows families through their struggles of infertility treatments. A show full of facts about infertility, doctors that provide the information that most of us learn along the way through our fertility journeys and celebrities that have struggled through infertility that could help shine a light on the reality of infertility.
Why not put the insurance companies on the spot and ask the tough questions about coverage. For instance why isn't fertility considered a disease that should be covered by ALL insurance companies? According to Merriam Webster a disease is "an illness that affects a person, animal, or plant : a condition that prevents the body or mind from working normally." Why is infertility treated differently?
Infertility can be diagnosed but once you are diagnosed the medical field can only offer you expensive treatments that have no guarantee that at the end of the process the outcome will be a baby.
So, for just a second, imagine a program that could change the way in which we learn about infertility, change the future of treatments and could perhaps open the doors to more options for the regular person. What if your fertility treatments were paid for by allowing people to go on your fertility journey, would you do it?
This is my journey of fertility drugs, disappointment, giving up and a surprise happy ending!
